Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois

I was not claimed in the bankruptcy.....

I traded work on this other persons house in return he would do work on my house. I knew he filed BK a year ago, but was told by him I would not be named in the BK, and was not. He started to make good by bring his equipment to my house to do the work this past spring, then took them and is now claiming he does not owe me anything as I was part of the BK. My understanding to date is, this would be purgury on his part, and he is still liable. Please explain the facts of the law. The work on his house was documented, and acknowledged by him.

I assume that "purgury" is perjury; even so, you have a tough row to hoe. The pre-petition debt is most probably discharged in bankruptcy per a case called "Mendiola". If you could prove that there was a preference, you could probably object to the discharge. It would appear, from reading between the lines, that quite some time has passed. You are probably out of luck. Why don't you consult with a local bankruptcy attorney so he/she can review all the facts???
