Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois

Credit implications for spouse

I am in a position which Chap 7 is the only way to get a breath,MOST of all the debts are in my name only, but my wife has authorized used accounts, and 1-2 are joint.

Will WE have to file,or can only I file. And what will show up onthe credit report if I file, and she has the authorized acounts on her bureau.Closed,or bankrupcy.

This question has a direct bearing on whether I will pursue this.

Also,I work in a field in which I analyze credit, and see reports often.Lately I see "Credit card bankruptcy",but do not know this as a specific class. Is this a 7,or 13,or either.

Re: Credit implications for spouse

In my opinion, it is always best for both spouses to file jointly. The "Credit Card Bankruptcy" is collection report jargon. I believe that you should make an office appointment to speak with a bankruptcy lawyer, whether it be myself or another lawyer.
