Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
credit problem
My ex has been using a joint credit account which was setteled in our
divorce decree. She used her new married name but the same acct. # (they say). Now they want me to pay her debt(collection agency) and my credit is screwed up. Should I charge her with idenity theif to prove I had no knowledge of this.

I doubt the police would take your accusations seriously since its a domestic squable. Legaly, your best bet would be to sue the credit card company for a declaratory judgment that you do not owe the money, which you could use to remove it from your credit report. You could also try to sue her for fraud. Bankruptcy is always an option. It would eliminate the debt alltogether and any other unsecured debt you have.
