Under section 525 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code an employer may not discriminate against an individual solely because he or she has filed for bankruptcy or received a disharge in bankruptcy.
The code is clear in this regard. For security sensitive positions or positions that deal with money, employers will often look at an individuals financial history for security reasons. However, an employer may not discriminate on the sole basis that you filed for bankruptcy.
