Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Ex-employer filed Chapter 7 in my name
In 2000 I testified against 2 ex-employers in a federal case. In order to gain ''disclosure'' in the case that was to go to trial, one person filed a Chapter 7 in my name and also contacted two creditors after obtaining my credit report illegally. Do I have any recourse?

Re: Ex-employer filed Chapter 7 in my name
Yes you do.
If someone is attempting to coerce you to change your testimony in Court, then they are in direct contempt and could face criminal charges.
Furthermore, you are describing identity theft, fraud, intrusion upon seclusion, interference with a business relationship, and possibly more. There are several claims you have in civil court and you can also contact the state's attorney or even federal prosecutors to seek criminal charges.
