can you file bankruptcy on student loans both subsidized and unsubsidized if you have made payments in the past.

Generally, student loans are not dischargeable in bankruptcy. There are very few exceptions. You would really need to have all the paperwork from the loans examined. And, there is a general hardship exception as well.
