Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Homelife Furniture Cashed my check and Filed
I purchased $3K worth of furniture from Homelife Furniture. Since I am building a new house, I pushed out delivery until September. Payment was made in full, and Homelife cashed my check. Their Website states they are working on ''requests'' for refunds.
My question is? Did I get screwed out of my $3K by this poorly managed business that managed to go from $680M to throwing in the towel in 6 Months? What is my recourse, or should I just wait a bit and see what shakes out?
Thank You

Re: Homelife Furniture Cashed my check and Filed
If Homelife will not pay you a refund, your only recourse is to sue it. If Homelife files bankruptcy, you can file a proof of claim with the bankruptcy court. If you had used a credit card for the purchase, you may have been able to convince the issuer of the card to unilaterally debit Homelife's account and credit yours.
