Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Parking tickets
I have been sent a bill for paking tickets that i put in my bankruptcy in 2000 and the are threaten to boot my car if i dont pay in 21 days. I sent them my bankruptcy papers and they told me that dosent count tell me what am i suppose to do?

Parking tickets are fines that are not dischargeable in bankruptcy. You still have to pay them. Sorry.

Parking tickets are not criminal in nature, and therefore are dischargeable like any other debt. Booting a car would, in my opinion, be a violation of the permanent injunction provisions of the Bankruptcy Code.
