Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
My rights when i owe a debt to someone but have no job or income
I was searching the web and found this site cause nothing else would answer my question. I owe a lawer money who gave me a service for some tickets, i already payed him about 2000 dollars and owe him like 2000 more, i didn't pay him, because he was never prepared or showed up for my trial dates on time. he took me to court before, had a court order to pay 100 a month, was doing that but lost my job and is taking me back to court when they know i have no job, so I was wondering what my rights are on that, and since he didn't do his job for me and lost my case and was never prepared if i could do anything about that?... Thanks

He got a judgment against you. You cannot fight the fact that you owe him money at this point. You can make a complaint against him for the "bad" representation but at this point it looks like sour grapes to the court because you lost and he sued you.
Finally he can't collect what you do not have. The unpaid balance of the judgment is gaining 9% interest by law. So he can bring you to court for a citation to discover your assets. However, he can ask the court to cease your assets in satisfaction of your debt.
Good luck
