Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Surrendered house in a Chapter 7
My house was in foreclosure and I filed ch 7 and let the house go. I have since been discharged and moved out of the house. The house was to be sold at sheriffs sale but has not been sold yet. County is citing me for violations such as not cutting grass etc. Am I still responsible (post discharge, pre-sale) for upkeep of house? Should I have transfered title to mortgage co at time of filing bankruptcy? Thanks.

Re: Surrendered house in a Chapter 7
You do not own the house; it belonged to the Trustee from the moment you filed BK, and now is owned by whoever purchased it at the Sheriff's sale.
