Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Illinois
Vehicle in Bankruptcy
I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in the fall of 2005. I have a vehicle which I used as collateral in 2004 to obtain a loan of about $9,000.00. Although I claimed that debt in the bankruptcy, the finance company has not asked for the car. I actually never even heard from them. I would like to somehow legally get the title back, but don't want to question the finance company with the fear they will just take the car. Any suggestions how I can go about settling this matter?

Re: Vehicle in Bankruptcy
Ab initio: who actually has the title to the vehicle? You can do a title search through the SOS.
