Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

Auto loan fraud

I purchased a vehicle in Illinois 2 years ago. The paperwork...finance/loan agreement has only my name on it. I went to a dealership in South Carolina about 2 weeks ago. When they pulled my information, they told me that I have a joint account with a particular auto loan company. I told them that that is impossible since I am the only one that signed the paperwork. I then contacted the loan company and they told me that my father's name was on the loan. Problem with that is, he NEVER signed the finance agreement, loan papers, etc. They told me that they would take his name off of the loan. But my question is, what recourse do I have to sue them for putting his name on there to begin with?

What are your damages? Unless you have been damaged in some way, I don't think you have a claim, and, unfortunately, you can't sue for emotional distress under a contract.
