Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
beginning a church
I'm trying to find out how to start a church legally. This will be a small group of people meeting in my home at first then later moving into a building. We want to set it up as a regular church with all of the tax implications that that provides. we dont really know where to start. could you help with any advice about how to get started.

Re: beginning a church
You have a number of items to do. Among them are the following:
1) Incorporate as a not-for- profit
2) Pass by bylaws and organize,
3) Obtain an FEIN number
4) apply for 501(c) 3 status on both the federal and state level.
