Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
b.y.o.b.
quick question......
I own a small cafe that does not have a liquor license. However, during the winter months, several restaurants send their customers to our cafe while waiting for their table. The restaurant simply calls them on their cell or our cafe and we send them to their reservations up the street.
If the party happens to B.Y.O.B. in our cafe and they serve themselves, is this legal? Again, my cafe does NOT have a liquor license. This situation has not happened and I would never allow this without the proper procedures (would never want to lose my business license).
What are my options?
Sincerely,
Marguerite

Hello. The city of Chicago has strict guidelines
concerning liquor. In my opinion, you should
tell the visiting patrons that they cannot bring
the liquor with them. Over years I have seen too
many businesses get charged with violations. This
will avoid any problems or accusations by a police officer that you are serving liquor. I
will be happy to answer any additional questions
that you might have.
