Company policies
Our company has introduced a safe driving policy with strict penalties for traffic violations when driving your privately owned vehicle for company business. Can they inforce their policy during non- business hours?

Re: Company policies
Yes. I would respectfully disgree with the earlier poster who said no. Here is why: It does not matter that you own the car. Since you are driving it for company reasons, they are responsible for how you drive. Thus, people that are poor drivers on the weekends tend to be bad drivers during the week. A company has a legitimate business interest in having safe drivers.

Re: Company policies
No they may not. A company has a better chance of enforcing such policy when/if the business or activities of its employees relate to employment and activities are what's called "within the scope of employment." If during weekends personnel conducts and uses vehicles for business then maybe, otherwise no. And BTW the company would have a better chance if these "private vehicles" were company owned instead
