Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

Copyright

What form of protection do I need in order to sell a product? It would consist of, (1) My own drawings and my own words. (2) They will be on stickers that are placed on store bought greeting cards.

I've checked on copyrights but I'm not sure if my idea falls into that catagory.

Thank you

Re: Copyright

it depends on what "it" is you are trying to protect. if you want to protect the name of your product (i.e. you are ford and don't want others to sell cars or car products with the name Ford, but are not trying to stop others from selling cars in general) then you need trademark protection. if you want to be the only one who can sell any type of car, then you need patent protection. if you want to protect the language in the manual of the car, then copyright protection. (obviously, Ford can't stop others from selling cars...just an example) hope this helped. you can call me at (847)845-4345 if you have further questions. hope all is well, justin lampel
