will be the protection from liability of a S corporation weakened because the S corporaton has a DBA ?

the status of a Subchapter S corporation should not be altered by the use of a DBA.

The Illinois Business Corporation Act clearly allows a corporation to use an assumed name(or "dba"). If the corporation is using a name other than its legal name, it should file the appropriate forms with the office of the Illinois Secretary of State to properly adopt the assumed name.
