Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
my daughter attends dance classes. We were required to purchase several hundred dollars of dance costumes for a recital (as we have been doing for 10 years). Tution is due 3 times a year. For the last 9 years, late fees were not assessed for tution fees. They are now. Payments notice are not sent out and it is our responsibility to check the website for dates. In addition, I am past the due date and got a notice that not only do I owe late fees but they will keep the costumes I paid in full for (and own) until I pay. Is it legal to hold costumes I purchased and own? Thank you.

Seems a stretch, unless there is some written agreement to the contrary.
