DBA's and tax id numbers
If I file for a tax id number in one state do I also have to file for the dba in the same state?

An entity should only have one federal tax identification number. The "dba" simply means that the entity is also doing business under a name other than its own. The dba is not another entity and should not have a separate federal tax ID number.
