Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
I dined at a local restaurant with friends and we each asked for separate bills. When I received mine I was charged a gratuity fee equal to somewhere around 20-25%.
Is is legal for a restaurant to force a customer to pay any tip /gratuity on their dinning bill in the state of Illinois?

As a Franchise Attorney I can say this. Before any restaurant can charge a gratuity, it must disclose this on the menu or in some other conspicuous way. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
