Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Employer Relocation Liability
My place of employment offered me a management position. On the basis of relocation. I purchased a home in the state of Indiana with no help from them. I only relocated due to the business. They gave me a signed written contract stating the benefits and the goal of the company. They defaulted on the lease and pulled out of the business altogether. Meanwhile I was stuck with driving 100 miles a day back and forth to keep my job in Chicago. They never offered any help with the sale of my house or opening another location as they intended. 1-1/2 yrs later they lose 25k in lawsuit for lease default settled out of court. I get terminated on the grounds that ''I'm not a team player.'' Due I have a case against the company. Please let me know. P.S. Are racial slurs against customers allowed in the work area? They came about due to bad checks. But I was very uncomfortable with the statements made.
Hope to hear from you.
Thanks again....

Re: Employer Relocation Liability
Sounds like a really nice company. There may be some liability on the part of the company. You should have an attorney review the contract.
