Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
franchise
Hi, my partner and I started a business, but my partner is the registered franchise to the business. We have an s-corporation with a fifty percent partnership. My partner is the president of the s-corporation. I sold my portion to my family member with his verbal permission. Now he wants to sell the business without asking my family member (person who I sold my portion of the s-corp to) first. What can I legally do if he sells the business without permission?

Re: franchise
The answer depends in part on what your articles of incorporation and bylaws say. Absent discussion of the issue in these documents, the Illinois Corporation Act would govern. It is somewhat fact-specific, as a result, so you would need to obtain a formal legal opinion as to your rights.
