Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
What can I do?
I'm a full-time student that works a part-time job for a local firm that is suppose to pay me ''bi-weekly on Friday after my scheduled work shift,'' as stated in the employee hand book. But this week we didn't get paid on that Friday because UPS for some reason made a mistake. So the company manager said ''You all will get your checks on Saturday between 9A.M. and 3 P.M. But call before you come.
When I found out when I was going to pay me, I called my creditors and told them that I would have to pay them at no later than 3:30P.M., they said it will be OK but if not they are going to repo becaause of our contract. So I gave them the OK.
When I called Saturday morning I was told the checks should be there from 3-5P.M. (after the banks are closed), and now I am unable to make my payment obligations to my creditors and they are going to repo from me. Is there anything that I can do?

Re: What can I do?
Your creditors would seem to be moving pretty quickly to repo their goods. From your message, I understnad that you did receive your check on Saturday. As long as you deposited it and wrote a check that day for the goods you wouldn't have a problem.
Legally, I am unsure what recourse you might have. Could you recover on action? Probably. However, ask yourself if it is worth the time and expense.
It seems from your statment, there is more to your problem than what you described.
