Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

Hi,

I've had an ongoing discussion with an online company regarding a refund of $527.00. I have numerous emails assuring me that not only am I eligible for the refund, they are "in the process of returning it to me". I've also had numerous telephone conversations and have been assured that the refund will be returned will be posted to my account. Both emails and phone conversations all tell me I have to wait 3 - 5 or 7 - 10 business days for it to be refunded; which I have done so. This has been ongoing for approximately 2.5 - 3 months now. I feel like they are simply delaying so I will just give up and stop seeking my refund.

What are my options? What do you recommend my next step be? The cost of hiring a lawyer will certainly be as much if not more than my refund itself.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Tim

You are learning of one of the major problems with doing business with an online company.

If you paid by credit card, contact your credit card company asap. You can file a small claims complaint. However, unless they are an Illinois Company or have assets in Illinois, collecting is a problem. You may want to contact the Illinois Attorney Generals Office.
