Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

(Illinois) I am a Subcontractor owed money on an insurance claim repair. The Insurance Company recently paid the Contractor in full despite having received notice from us that we were not paid. Our repair services were completed in late May 2011. What is the best way for us to receive payment? Mechanic's Lien on Claimant's property? We have not sent any notice of intention to Lien, but the Claimant is aware of our services completed in the insurance repair claim; our efforts to reach Claimant have gone unanswered. Is there a formal Lien process or can I just file a Lien with justified cause?

Hello. I suggests that you give notice and record a lien against the property. You should also retain an attorney and consider filing a lawsuit against the contractor for the amount that you are owed. I would act quickly.
