Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
incorporating a small business
In Illinois, do you have to own a home to incorporate a small business? I believe I heard that if you live in an apartment you couldn't own a business. All manufacturing would be done by a vendor, so zoning would not be an issue. Basically, having sports memoribilia produced for resale is what this would be. Any advice or opinions would be a great help.

Re: incorporating a small business
No, there is no requirement that you own your home to incorporate a business.
If you are conducting business from your apartment, you need to check your lease to make sure that you are not in violation of your rights as a tenant. A mail order business with frequent pickups and deliveries could be against the landlord's rules and regulations.
