Is it legal for a financial planner to give info on a spouses account to another spouse without permission?

Hello. No! In my opinion this amounts to a breach of fiduciary duty. This is private information even as to a spouse and unless there is a written authorization to disclose the information to a person's spouse, the information should remain confidential. The person whose information was disclosed, in my opinion, has a basis for filing a lawsuit against the financial planner. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
