Is it legal to fundraise to pay for school tuition?

Depends on how you "fundraise." Ask people to give you money? Ok. Raffle. Not ok. Summer job? Ok. Suggest that it is a charitable contribution or tax deductible? Not ok.

You also may be responsible for taxes on whatever amount is raised.
