Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Non payment
I am a medical transcriptionist that works as an independent contractor for a company in another state who is not paying me for work performed. How can I force them to pay me? I am in Nevada and the company in Illinois.

Re: Non payment
You will have to sue them and depending on the circumstances in Illinois. If you can sue them in Nevada, you will probably have to get a judgment registered in Illinois in order to collect. On a more practical matter, if you know the name of the company's customer, you may want to contact the customer and tell them how unethical the company that you work for is.

You may have no choice but to sue them, and unfortunately, you will probably have to sue them in Illinois.
