Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Non payment for services rendered
I completed a job for a customer in Nov 2005. Over the last year the customer has promised to pay the balance due, and calls occaisionally, but cant seem to come up with the money. I made the mistake of being friendly with this customer and gave him a discount based on future work he was to provide. So I cut him some slack with time on the final pmt. But it is a year later! Can I still put a mech lien on his house? or to I have to go to the civil courts?

It is too late to file a mechanics lien. You will have to sue him for the amount owed.
