Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
paid $8000 in advance and no work was done
What legal recourse do I have to get money back from a contractor working under the name of a company that did not exist and never returned to do work. I paid him $8000
in advance but no work was done. I tried all consumer agencies but the alleged contractor never responded. I do have an address and driver license # written in the checks he cashed. I have a written contract.
