Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
If I and another person run a sports website and we want to sell merchandise purely to fund upgrades and cover costs to run the site (we have no wish to generate income for ourselves), do we need to create a business?

I assume you mean form an entity, as any operation that has the purpose of profiting is a business (you would be a partnership by default). You do not need to form an entity, though there are many advantages to doing so. You may need to obtain licenses from your municipality regardless of whether you have an entity.
