Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
First off this seems petty, just don't want this owner getting away with it.....we stayed in a hotel, complained because the shower water would not get hot. The owner gave us half off for our next stay. ok great. I posted a comment on facebook about our experience and he called and told us that he was taking away the half off offer after we had already called and made sure that it WAS in the system. Can he legally offer us this and take it away. I have no desire to return but I do want a refund now

It doesn't look like an enforceable contract was made because there was no consideration here. The owner offered you a discount without requesting anything back from you. If the half off was a condition for you to stay another night then that is another story.
