Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
I'm in the process of getting price quotes from three dealers for a new car and the value of my trade-in. I received a call from dealer "A" saying that my son called him to find out how much they were offering for my trade-in because he wanted to buy it from me. I asked for the number this call came from, called it and found that it was from a Salesman I was dealing with from dealer "B". Dealer B Salesman was acting unethically by representing himself as my son to get access to the trade-in number for my car which would impact the pricing for the pending new car transaction. My question is, was that behavior against the law - and if so what would you recommend I do?
Thank You

I am not sure I understand what happened, nor does it appear you were damaged in any way. Behaving unethically is not illegal, and as far as I know, car salesmen are not governed by an ethical code. If you feel very strongly about it, you could call his boss, but personally, I would vote with my wallet and not buy a car from the guy.
