Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
I am in the process of starting my business and it will deal with soccer training in the US (Illinois), as well as overseas (South America, Brazil). I would like to know what kind of legal documents I would have to have available for liability purposes, so I can operate my business without fear of lawsuits? Liability waivers? Exception forms/documents? Insurance? Thank you in advance
1 Answer from Attorneys
People sue. Period. This is true of any business and more so of businesses where people could get hurt. You should work with an attorney who can help put together the various kinds of documents that may create some insulation -- disclaimers, waivers, insurance, HIRING and teaching practices, licensing and continuing education.....all part of the same thing. A crappy contractor with great insurance will not have it for long if the products and services are not monitored for quality assurance..... So if you truly fear lawsuits, don't just use shields, but swords as well......be proactive, but don't forget, that won't stop the lawsuits. At best it'll give you better defenses....
