Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Product developement
Would like to know if I am violating any proprietary design laws if I take another manufacturers product, cut it up, modify it and then recast it and sell it. There would be notable improvements in the design.
I do not want to steal anyone elses design. I do not have a business, and would be using it for my own personal use in my hobby. Would like to offer it to other hobbiests as well who are interested.
Would this be OK or would I be treading a thin line on proprietary law?

Re: Product developement
Sounds like reverse engineering. It is a little confusing when in your first sentence you say you are going to sell it, then later you say it would be for your own personal use.
