Promises
Britney promises to deliver a certain couch to Dan, who promises to pay for the service. Britney does not perofrm. She may be required to?

Not necessarily. While Britney is contractually obligated to perform, and may be subject to damages, there is a small matter of the 13th amendment. Courts are very reluctant to require performance of a contract like the one you described because it could constitute forced labor (a bit too much like slavery). More likely is that a Court will force Britney to pay money for someone to deliver the couch unless she does so herself.
