Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Hi, I was put into a dangerous situation by a Hilton employee and I'm not sure what to do. I asked a Hilton shuttle bus driver a question and he got irritated and proceeded to start the bus and drive off with me STILL standing in the doorway of the bus prompting me to yell to the top of my lungs "give me a chance to move back!" The incident happened today and I reportef it to the drivers direct supervisor who aplogized and gave me the asst General mgr's, name, phone and email address. The only thing I want is an admission of guilt/apology from the employee and sensitivity training of some sort. If he did it to me he"ll do it to someone else. Is calling writing the Asst. GM enough or should I go to Hilton corporate, I was so scared and upset there has to be something I can do, I appeciate any help

To inform corporate management of such incidents, I usually advise preparing a written statement to the highest corporate manager, even the President; otherwise, such complaints may not be disclosed. Detail the complaint in reasonable language, offering to confirm your complaint in a legal affidavit or notarized statement to underline your serious attitude about the potential injury in addition to the deplorable customer service. A company such as Hilton will listen.
As a Franchise Attorney I agree with the other attorney answer. The other reason to go as high up the corporate chain as possible is the location where the incident happened my be a franchised one. If so, it's important to inform the corporate franchisor about the behavior of one of its franchise owners. They will definitely investigate and likely take corrective action against the driver. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
