Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
I am renting a water softener that is currently not working properly. The company I am renting from is in financial trouble. Most phone numbers have been disconnected and the remaining number has a full mailbox. If I send a certified letter to the company asking for contact can I withhold rental payment until someone contacts me?

Why not? What do you have to lose unless there is a penalty clause in the contract?
