Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Selling Photographs on a website
Is it illegal to post pictures from a public kids' sports event on a websight offering them for sale to the parents? It would be immpossible to obtain written waivers from every parent in the league but we would certainly take any off the website that the parents asked us to. Would we need to have the league's permission to do this?

Re: Selling Photographs on a website
This question cannot be answered without knowing some details about the sporting event. But I can tell you the following:
If the sporting event took place in a public location, like a public park or even a private facility for which you had permission to be there, it is ok for you to offer to sell (and to actually sell) these photographs to the parents.
Under NO circumstances would it be legal for you to use these images of the children (or even adults) for advertising purposes without waivers from the parents.
If this sporting event was at a private facility that has restrictions on photography, then you could NOT sell the photos without permission from the parents, because you would not have had permission to take the photos in the first place.
