Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
I stayed at a hotel in Feb 2009. There was an error in my favor on the bill. I was then contacted by the hotel 5 months later seeking payment.
Am I obligated to make payment. I thought that when checking out, you fulfill your financial obligation to the hotel.

Yes. You are obligated. You signed an agreement when you checked in. You are not entitled to benefit by another's mistake. They can sue you for breach of contract. The fact that you checked out does not mean that you fulfilled your financial obligation. For example, what if you had caused damage to the room that they did not discover until later? You certainly would be responsible.
