Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois
Possible Termination
I work in Accouts Receivable. One of the customers that I work with has accused me of swearing at her over the phone (A very large client, I might add). I am at risk of losing my job over this false charge. How aggresive should I be in defending myself and what are my rights??

Re: Possible Termination
Hello. You should very aggressively defend your-
self against this charge. In my opinion, you
are entitled to a hearing. You should deny the
accusations against you in a written letter. Of
course I suggests that you get a lawyer at this
point. If there is any possibility that the
conversation that you had with the client was
recorded, you should immediately take steps to
request that the recording be retrieved, before
it is destroyed. This is very important. I
also suggests that you request a review of your
personnel file to see whether this matter has
been recorded and how it has been recorded. Your
chances of prevailing here will improve if you
act quickly. I will be happy to discuss this
with you further.
