Legal Question in Business Law in Illinois

Greetings from the west

Two months ago, a certain committee of individuals committed to rent a facility in Rockford, IL for $7,779.50 for an event in May, based on an itemized quote given to us from the location of the event. The committee, paid the required $1,500 deposit ahead of time with the understanding we would pay the remainder $6,299.50 on the 26th of April. When the committee contacted the facility to pay the remainding $6,299.50, we were told they had made a mistake and we now owed them 7,639.00 more instead of the original quote.meaning we owe them an additional $1,339.50.

Not only do we not have the money to pay the difference, but we do not feel obligated to pay the difference. Please advise us of what our responsibility should be. Are we responsible to pay the difference even tho they mis-quoted us and admit to making a mistake? THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Re: Greetings from the west

Tell them you'll only pay the original amounted quoted because that was the amount to which you agreed. If they insist you pay more, get your money back and find another space.
