I work in sales. 12 years ago I signed a noncompete. will it hold up in court

It all depends on the details of the non-compete. Generally, in order to be enforceable, a non-compete agreement must be reasonable in scope and duration. You would be wise to consult with an attorney in your area to review the details of your agreement.
