Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

Binding Verbal Agreement

I am divorced and have a 21 year old daughter who is in college. Her father and I verbally agreed to split the expenses of her college 50-50. He paid the first semester (fall) and then did not pay the next semester (spring). As he was always late I did not panic at first but then in July I filed a petition on the matter. I am needing to find cases in Illinois where verbal agreements were ordered binding. HELP!

Re: Binding Verbal Agreement

I understand your frustration. Your

time will be better spent finding an

attorney to represent you. From your

posting it appears as if you are

representing yourself. Essentially,

at a hearing on the matter, you will

be able to testify about what your ex

did and then did not do. You will

want to subpoena documents that the

college received from your ex and from

you as they relate to payments. Will

be happy to answer any additional questions that you may have in more

detail.
