Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois

Breach of Contract Employment Discrimination

I was hire as a six grade teacher in an alternative teaching program. I sign a six year contract. Two to do as a residental teacher and four years committment after I receive my master degreee. I lived up to my end of the bargain, even through I was harrased and had an uneven work load in comparison to the other four student teachers. My children were productive and their grades improved. What is a good case law that I can use as a point and authority to show my wrongful discharge and breach of contract due my accent and personility and not my performance in which was the school's claim for firing me?

The school violated my due process as well as fail to provide a full time mentor per five resident teachers.

Re: Breach of Contract Employment Discrimination

Hello. I am sorry to hear that you were subjected to such terrible treatment. First of

all, you may want to file a claim with the Equal

Employment Opportunity Commission, if you believe

that you were discriminated against based upon

your race/ethnicity. Your school should have

given you a hearing, before making a decision to

discharge you. This is certainly a situation

where you should have a lawyer. Trying to do this on your own can put you at a great disad-

vantage. In terms of case law, there are several

cases like yours, but it depends on the facts of

your case. You should act quickly. I will be

happy to answer any additional questions that

you might have.
