Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois
Car impounded
My car was impounded by police when my friend was driving. He was arrested by Chicago police and charged with possession. The search was illegal and the case was dropped, but I had to pay 1500 to get my car back. How can they punish me for a case I was not only not involved in, but also proved to be illegally executed? What stops police from illegally arresting people at random knowing they will be aqcuited just to collect revenue? Doesnt someone have to be guilty to be punished?
