Most people who get judgments go after whatever they can. Garnishments are usually easier since it's money and if properly filled out and served the employer must withhold, but there's always the chance there is more than 1 garnishment in progress in which case you may wind up in second place and then the employee can always go to another job and avoid you. As to seizing assets you have to go to court, prove it belongs to the person who owes you money on the judgment, and get an order of court turning it over to you, and if it is not then you have to go back to court for more orders. Getting judgments is often the easy part; collecting on them the hardest. If you've gotten this far on your own, you may want to consider an attorney's help in going the extra mile.
