Hello. Generally, the age of 18 is the age of legal emancipation. However, a court of law can still order the parents of an 18 year old to
pay college expenses based upon their ability to pay in a divorce case, until the emancipated child
graduates. This only applies if the emancipated child continues in school at a 4 year college. Will be happy to talk with you further if you have any questions.
