Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Illinois
personal belongings of a deceased parent
My grandchildren lost their father in which they lived. His parents came to the house and removed several items of his. His childrens mother had come to be with the children and resume care. Do the grandparents have the right to remove the items ?????? Or do the items now belong to the children?????

Re: personal belongings of a deceased parent
Hello. The grandparents have absolutely no right to remove items from the house. The items, assuming there is no will or other claim to this property, belong to the children. A minor's estate needs to be opened for each child. An estate for the children's father should then be opened and that will further protect the interest of the children. I am willing to discuss this matter further. I have additional contents.
